“Conventional Wisdom” of success

They say work harder and longer and sacrifice and endure the pain, and you will be successful. But is this really true in business?

Is that really the way to get ahead, be successful and make fair profit?

Isn’t it easier than ever now to set up and scale a business? Isn’t it easier now to control your own financial and emotional life. The Internet gives us all the world’s information organised in a way that is easy to find and consume.

At the touch of a key you can hack into a free WiFi connection, you can set up online eCommerce accounts such as Amazon or Ebay for FREE, you can sell some old possessions you don’t need anymore and raise some small start up capital, to buy and sell some more.

You don’t need any premises or stock or overhead. You can raise more finance online from peer to peer and crowd funding sites. You can find all your customers online at low cost or free through FREE social media sites. You can build a brand, reputation and raving fan base for your business or passion that can go viral and global, online, for FREE, from anywhere in the world. You can set up apps or technology fast and at low cost.

You can run your entire business from one device. You can receive money fast with the flash of a card or a phone at the speed of light through fibre optics.

What do you think? Is conventional wisdom for success outdated and over rated?
