The Woman Who Lost Her Face

The place where failure happens is also the place where courage lives.

Ordinary men and women who we see as heroic found strength and bravery they didn’t know they had in moments of threat, danger and adversity.

You see, we all have that inner untapped [daring] courage within us. Within you.

Which brings me to Katie Piper, an inspirational young women whose life changed forever when she was attacked with acid.

Her face + neck dramatically burned. It melted away her nose, left ear and eyelids. She was blinded in one eye.

Her mouth, tongue, throat, arms, hands, neck were severely burned. Even her lungs were damaged.

Katie’s injuries were so horrific she was expected to die.

Yet…

…remarkably, Katie is now an entrepreneur and a successful businesswomen.

Our Takeaways:

*You Are Stronger Than You Think

When you find your inner strength + personal toughness, they are character elements that were already inside you which get forged into a fire of hard conditions.

Difficult situations help you push past your mental, emotional + physical limits.

*Get Back In The Fast Lane

Katie wanted to die +planned to commit suicide. Half her face was missing. She was helpless. She couldn’t speak, breathe or swallow properly. Her eyelids were fused together.

She thought her life was over. She’d have to be cared for, for the rest of her life.

But going from wearing a plastic pressure mask for 23 hours a day for 18 months and having over 200 operations, Katie not only survived and got her life back, she has written a best-selling book and started a charity. To help others. To give back.To inspire millions.

She knew that the longer she waited and let this horrific incident consume her, the more the fear would become her way of being. She felt the pain, confronted her demons and got back in the game.

When you fall and stumble, get back up my friend and keep going as quickly as you can. As above, the place where failure happens is also the place where courage lives.

*Keep Your Foot On The Accelerator

Katie is living proof things can get better. Yes she hit rock bottom. Yes she suffered pain, anorexia, rape, domestic violence, depression, loneliness.

But she “learned mechanisms to cope” and be an inspiration for millions. For me. For you too perhaps?

And that’s true for any top performer: there is no “failure”. Every setback is the beginning of your next victory.

You never want to coast, slow down, rest on your laurels, stagnate and base your self-identity on past events.

For Your continued success, I wish you all green lights in Your pursuit of greatness.
